Step 2. Adding Affiliate Networks and Offers

Affiliate Networks in RedTrack

An Affiliate Network acts as an intermediary between publishers and merchant affiliate programs. It allows website publishers to more easily find and participate in affiliate programs which are suitable for their website (and thus generate income from those programs), and allows websites offering affiliate programs to reach a larger audience by promoting their affiliate programs to all of the publishers participating in the affiliate network.

Configuring Postback URL for Affiliate Network

If you want to track your conversions automatically you will need to setup Postback URL on your Affiliate Networks. We always recommend using the postback URL option as opposed to the img or script pixel option as it's safer and far more accurate.

Upon adding a new Affiliate Network you'll find postback URL section that consists of two lines: Postback URL template and Final Postback URL.

Postback URL template looks as follows:

http://rdtrck2.com/postback?clickid={replace_me}&sum={replace_or_remove}

new_aff_network.png

Make sure to add actual clickID parameters to the Postback URL. The necessary macro needs to be be obtained from your Affiliate Network as they may vary for each particular Network.

Once you've generated postback URL, you can add it to your affiliate network either as global Postback, or on individual offer level if you plan to use different macros for different offers.

Duplicate Postback

You can choose what action should be taken upon receiving duplicate Postback (several conversions created by the same clickID). Depending on the option you've chosen, RedTrack will:

  • Create a new conversion: duplicate postback data will be added as a separate conversion
  • Ignore duplicate Postback: no data will be added to your tracking report
  • Edit conversion with new data: the original conversion will be edited with new data
  • Keep original data, increment payout: only conversion payout will be edited (for example, tracking subsequent sales for the same conversion)

Whitelisted IP

if you wish to only record conversions that came from a certain IP, or IP range, you can enable Whitelisted IPS. The conversions that aren't included in the IP range will not be accounted towards your event limit.

Affiliate Network Statistics

You can sort your Affiliate Networks by date and campaign. Statistics allow you to track the performance of each Network.

network.png

The following information can be tracked for each Affiliate Network:

  • Offers - the amount of Offers from each Network
  • Clicks - the number of clicks generated for each particular Network
  • Conversions - the number of conversions that occured for each Network
  • CR - conversion rate - the percentage of clicks that resulted in a conversion
  • CPA - cost per action (acquisition) - a fee for a certain action (form submission, registration, download, etc.
  • EPC - earning per click - the amount received for a click bought from a traffic source. EPC can be calculated as Revenue divided by Clicks
  • CPC - cost per click - net cost of a click bought within a traffic source. Calculated as Cost divided by Clicks
  • Revenue - the amount received for the payment of conversions within all Campaigns from each particular Network. Revenue can be found by multiplying campaign’s conversions and payout
  • Cost - the cost of all clicks on Offers from each particular Network
  • Profit - net income of all Offers from each Network. Profit is a difference between the campaign’s Revenue and campaign’s Cost
  • ROI - return of investment - profitability level of all Offers from a Network. ROI can be calculated by the following pattern: Profit/Cost *100%. If the ROI > 0%, that means that Offers are profitable.

Offers in RedTrack

Now that you added and configured your Affiliate Networks, you can obtain specific Offers provided by those Networks.

Offer is a description of a product or a service that needs to be advertised as well as all the aspects of the advertising process (payments, sources, etc.). Without Offers, you cannot properly track and monitor conversions.

The tracking process requires setting up Postback URL to receive {clickid} parameter and transfer the required conversion data when a lead is converted and you receive payment for a specified acquisition (eg. purchase, registration, sign up etc.)

Adding New Offers

The steps below describe the process of creating a new Offer. Before creating a new Offer, please make sure to add a relevant Affiliate Network that you took this Offer from.

1. Open the Offers tab and click New

2. Enter the name of the Offer

3. From the Affiliate network drop-down list, select a Network to associate the Offer with

 The network will appear on the drop-down list only if you have previously added it in Networks tab

4. Specify Offer Payout, if necessary

5. Set an Unique visits cap (optional). This feature affects how many times the same Offer will be displayed to the same user.

6. Specify Conversion cap (optional). You may choose to get notified per e-mail when the conversion cap is reached.

Tip: make sure to add several Offers when setting a daily cap so that RedTrack has an alternative Offer to send traffic to when the cap is reached. It can be done in Campaign section.

7. The Tracking and Postback URLs will be filled-in automatically with the data from the template. You will only need to add a valid Offer URL to the tracking URL.

Conversion tracking will only be possible if you modify the offer URL and manually add clickID macros to the link. For RedTrack, the correct clickID parameter will be {clickid}

Example of the modified offer link:

http://www.mb102.com/lnk.asp?o=9643&c=918271&a=286398&l=9216&s2={clickid}

8. In the Country field select the countries from where traffic is accepted for this offer.

Please note that Geo is for reference only and not used for traffic filtering or distribution. All Traffic filtering and distribution settings are done in the Campaign tab.

As soon as you have completed the form, save the changes.

Ways of tracking Offer Payout

In RedTrack, there are 2 different ways you can track payout for conversions: Dynamic and Static.

  1. Dynamic. This method offers you an effective and accurate method of tracking using a dynamic payout token or fixed value in your S2S postback URL or Tracking pixel.

    Here’s how to set payout tracking to Auto:

  • If your Affiliate Network supports a dynamic payout token, it will send it back to RedTrack via your postack URL / pixel for each registered conversion via our supported sum parameter.
  • Upon adding a Network, edit the Postback URL template with the payout tracking macro. It will vary for each particular Network, so please contact your account manager for the right parameter.

postback_url.png

Here are some examples of postback URLs with dynamic tokens:

AFFISE PB URL example:

http://rdtrck2.com/postback?clickid={sub1}&sum={sum}

HasOffers PB URL example:

http://rdtrck2.com/postback?clickid={aff_sub}&sum={payout}

CAKE PB URL example:

http://rdtrck2.com/postback?clickid=#s2#&sum=#price#

  1. Static. This provides you with an alternative solution if dynamic payout macros aren't supported by the Network. You can also record payout by using a fixed payout value in the Offer settings; to set it up, do the following:

  • When creating or editing an Offer, navigate the Payout tab

  • Set the unit payout value (in USD) per each registered conversion

Managing Offers

All your offers are displayed on the list by default. From there you can check the statistics for each offer, e.g. number of clicks, Conversions, ROI, etc. You can use the fields in the Filter panel to adjust the items you want to view. You can filter the offers by Network, Time period, custom Tags as well as by Status (Active, Archived or Deleted).

Changing Offer status

The following statuses are available: edit, delete or archive the Offers

A/B Testing of Offers

To get your Campaigns up and running, you need to select Landing page (if applicable) and Offer in Streams section of a Campaign.

Sophisticated affiliate marketers can leverage this feature to provide more granular testing and optimization of their Offers.

  1. You can add more than one Landing page to the Stream. Traffic will be distributed between landing pages according to the specified "weight".
  2. You can add more than one Offer to the Stream. Traffic from landing page to Offer will be distributed according to specified "weight".
  3. You can add more then one Stream when creating / editing Campaign. Clicks will be distributed between streams according to specified "weight".

Consider this an advanced system for A/B tests.

In each campaign Stream you can add several offers or Landings to run split tests, that can depend on weight you set to selected Offer.

Adding Offers from own Website

If you own Offers that are being promoted on your website, their performance can also be tracked with the help of RedTrack.

In order to do that, you need to create a Campaign and get a tracking URL. When you get some clicks - you can access instant reports:

#1. Add your own website as Traffic Source.

#2 Add the Offers you’re promoting as Offers.

#3 Create new Campaign with your web-site as a Traffic source and Offers that you want to be tracked.

You can also do the same with Landing pages or combination of Offers and Landing pages.

Upon creating a campaign you will receive a tracking url. Place it on you web-site directly or through build in redirector. Now, you will get the data on all the clicks in the Campaign report.

You can create several Campaigns / tracking URL is you want to track different placements across your web-properties.

Multiple Offers from the same LP

If you wish to use a Landing page that contains links to multiple Offers with separate button each, make sure that you add different tracking links for each Offer accordingly.

Use this link structure if you want to link multiple offers simultaneously. Please make sure that number of offers in Stream is equal to a number of Multi-offer click URLs in Landing page.
