Step 2. Setting up a Campaign with RedTrack with MGID as a Source
Now you are ready to set up a new Campaign. Navigate the Campaigns tab, click the New button and specify the Campaign’s details. Do not forget to choose MGID as a Source for the Campaign. Once you have entered all the details, copy the Campaign URL form the correspondent field:
To pass the conversions to MGID, Campaign URL contains the {ref_id} macros: http://rdtrck2.com/5a7983bce1ee422aa0e80352?ref_id={click_id}.
Step 3. Setting Up Tracking in MGID
To set up conversion tracking in MGID, first you need to start a new Campaign. Follow the path Advertisers > Add Campaign on MGID Dashboard.
Navigate the Tracking Tags tab and make sure the slider is on. Tick the Add custom tracking tag. By default, it’s {click_id}.
To obtain a Postback URL for MGID, go further to the Conversions Sensors tab. There you need to specify the event type. Let’s say, you want to track conversions for Registrations. So here is an example of the form for this case:
The postback URL for this event type might look like this: http://a.mgid.com/postback?c={ref_id}&e=Registration&r={offer_payout}. Revenue is optional and can be omitted.
We advise you to provide the event name with the unique MGID lead_id, that will allow them to track the postback hash in case of any outage. With the lead_id included, the url might look like this: http://a.mgid.com/postback?c={ref_id}&e=RegistrationXXXXXX&r={offer_payout}. You can reach out to your MGID manager if you need help.
Step 4. Setting Up Postback URL in RedTrack
To properly track conversions in RedTrack, set up the Postback URL. Navigate the Postback settings tab in the Campaign Edit mode and press Add. The field will be automatically populated with the URL, but do not forget to replace the event type in the URL.
