Facebook can target ads to people based on how and when they engaged, and create an experience that is relevant to where they are in the process of investigating our products. Facebook's self-serve ad interface is better than any other advertising platform on the market – you don't have to be a tech wiz to get in there and get things rolling!
To prove this statement, we are going to show you how easy it is to track your Facebook Campaigns with RedTrack.
Step 1. Adding Facebook as a Traffic Source in RedTrack
To add Facebook to RedTrack, open the Sources tab and click New. Choose Facebook from the catalog and press Add. All the available macros will be already added to the Source.
Step 2. Starting a Campaign in RedTrack
Now that we have our Traffic Source in place, it is time to set up a new campaign. In RedTrack, go to the Campaigns tab and click New. Submit all the relevant details, such as your desired Campaign Name, Landing Page and offer(s) associated with this campaign. Choose Facebook as Traffic Source and click Save.
Your Campaign URL will be generated automatically and will already include sub macros supported by Facebook. They will pass tracking information for analysis. You may remove the macros you don’t wish to use.
If you wish to use dynamic parameters such as age (sub9) and gender (sub10), you need to manually replace them with actual values for each specific campaign. For example, if your target audience are 21 year old males, the Campaign URL will look like this:
Modify the link if necessary and copy your Campaign URL to clipboard.
Step 3. Launching a campaign in Facebook
Log into your Facebook account, open Ads Manager and go to Links section of the Ad tree. Insert the Campaign URL links you’ve obtained in Step 1 into Destination URL field.
If you’re using additional macros, specify them in the URL Parameters section. Don’t forget that dynamic parameters such as age and gender need to be edited manually.
Step 4. Obtaining a tracking Pixel in Facebook
If you’re an experienced Facebook affiliate, you probably already own a Facebook conversion tracking Pixel. If you’re new to Facebook Ads, don’t worry - setting up a tracking pixel is easy. Just go to Facebook Ads>Measure & Report>Pixels and follow step-by-step instructions.
Step 5. Adding conversion tracking Pixel to RedTrack
Once you have your tracking Pixel, you need to copy the non-script part (marked with red):
Add it to RedTrack upon creating a Campaign to enable conversion tracking:
Click Save and you’re all set!
